Exporting DNQ Chemicals From India: Documentation Buyers Need to Know
DNQ export from India — COA, MSDS, TDS and export paperwork Orion provides per batch. Questions for any Indian chemical exporter. Request docs.
Importing DNQ actives from India into your country requires more than a commercial invoice. Customs authorities, freight forwarders, and your own EHS team each need specific documents — and missing paperwork at the border delays clearance and pushes qualification timelines.
This guide lists the documentation that accompanies a DNQ export shipment, what each document is for, and what questions to ask any Indian supplier. Scope is limited to what Orion actually provides per batch — not compliance with any specific destination-market regulatory regime unless confirmed by documentation.
Documents Orion provides per shipment
Orion states that COA, MSDS/TDS, and export documentation are provided with shipments to trade buyers worldwide. This is documentation provided — not a claim about compliance with any specific country's import regulations.
| Document | Purpose | When provided |
|---|---|---|
| Certificate of Analysis (COA) | Confirms batch assay, moisture, appearance, batch number | Every batch — every shipment |
| MSDS / Safety Data Sheet | GHS hazard classification, handling, storage, transport info | Per grade — on request or product page |
| TDS / Technical Data Sheet | Application parameters, specs, coat weight, sensitivity | Per grade — on request or product page |
| Commercial invoice | Customs valuation and import declaration | Every export shipment |
| Packing list | Contents, weights, package count | Every export shipment |
| Export documentation | Accompanies international shipments per Orion supply terms | International shipments |
Certificate of Analysis (COA) — what importers check
The COA is the first document your receiving team should compare against the material on arrival.
Verify on every COA:
- Product name and grade match the purchase order
- CAS number matches the MSDS and invoice
- Batch number and date are stated (not a generic product-line document)
- Assay: 98.0% minimum for Orion active DNQ grades
- Moisture: 2.5% maximum (Freedom 2-1-4 and Freedom Plus powder)
- Appearance: yellow powder or as specified for the grade
- Signature or authorisation from the supplier's quality function
Reject or quarantine material where COA batch number does not match container labelling. For the full qualification workflow, see How to Qualify a New DNQ Supplier.
MSDS — transport and customs role
The MSDS (or SDS) serves multiple audiences in an export shipment:
- Freight forwarder — determines dangerous goods classification, UN number, packing group, and carrier requirements
- Customs — may be requested for hazardous chemical import permits
- Your EHS team — GHS labelling, storage segregation, worker training
Request the MSDS for the exact grade before booking freight. DNQ sodium salt, DNQ-cresol ester, and DNQ-THBP polymers may carry different transport classifications.
[NEEDS VERIFICATION: UN number and dangerous goods classification per Orion grade — confirm from grade-specific MSDS and your freight forwarder.]
For hazard classification context, see GHS Classification for DNQ Actives.
TDS — technical qualification support
The technical data sheet supports your coating or synthesis qualification — not customs clearance. It typically includes:
- Spectral sensitivity and exposure wavelength
- Coat weight guidance (1.7–1.8 g/m² for CtCP grades)
- Blend ratios (3.0–3.5 : 1 novolak : PAC for THBP grades)
- Supply form and storage conditions
- Method-of-use reference
Request the TDS during supplier qualification, before the trial batch arrives. Review application parameters against your line requirements while the shipment is in transit.
Commercial invoice and packing list
Standard export trade documents:
Commercial invoice should state:
- Supplier name and address (Orion: Banawadi, Karad, Maharashtra, India)
- Buyer name and import address
- Product description with CAS number
- Quantity, unit price, total value
- Incoterms (FOB, CIF, DAP, etc. — as agreed)
- Country of origin: India
Packing list should state:
- Number of packages (drums, cartons, containers)
- Net weight and gross weight per package
- Container/seal numbers (for FCL shipments)
- Product description matching the invoice
[NEEDS VERIFICATION: Orion's standard Incoterms and payment terms for export orders — confirm with sales@orionppp.com per order.]
Questions to ask any Indian DNQ exporter
Before placing an export order, confirm:
- What documents are included with the shipment?
- Is COA issued for the specific batch being shipped (not a template)?
- Can MSDS be provided before freight booking for dangerous goods classification?
- What HS code is used on the commercial invoice?
- Does the supplier have experience shipping DNQ to your destination country?
- What is the typical lead time from order to dispatch?
- Are containers light-protected and sealed for DNQ photosensitive materials?
- Who is the customs broker or freight forwarder contact on the Indian export side?
Destination-market regulatory documents
Importing DNQ into your country may require additional documents beyond what Orion provides as standard export paperwork:
Orion does not claim to provide destination-market regulatory documents unless confirmed per order. Identify your import requirements with your customs broker before placing the order.
| Document type | Who provides | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Import permit / licence | Buyer or buyer's agent | Country-specific; not supplied by Orion |
| REACH registration evidence | Supplier or EU importer | Ask supplier — see REACH buyer guide |
| Certificate of origin | Supplier or chamber of commerce | May be required for preferential tariff treatment |
| Phytosanitary / fumigation certificate | Not applicable to DNQ chemicals | — |
| Pre-shipment inspection | Buyer-arranged (if required by your country) | — |
Receiving an international DNQ shipment
On arrival at your facility:
- Inspect packaging — sealed, light-protected, no damage or moisture ingress
- Match documents — COA batch number, invoice description, packing list weights
- Compare COA to specification — assay, moisture, appearance within your incoming standard
- Store immediately — cool, dry, dark per storage guidance; do not leave in receiving area under ambient light
- File MSDS — update EHS records and labelling if this is a new grade
- Quarantine until QC release — if your procedure requires incoming inspection before use
For storage and handling after receipt, see DNQ Storage and Safe-Light Handling.

Common questions.
What export documentation does Orion provide with DNQ shipments?
Orion provides a certificate of analysis (COA) per batch, MSDS and TDS per grade, and export documentation including commercial invoice and packing list with international shipments.
Do I need an import licence for DNQ chemicals?
Import licence requirements depend on your destination country and the hazard classification of the specific DNQ grade. Check with your customs broker using the supplier's MSDS before placing the order. Orion does not provide import licences — these are the buyer's or buyer's agent's responsibility.
Can Orion ship DNQ to my country?
Orion supplies trade buyers in India and export markets worldwide. Contact sales@orionppp.com with your destination, grade, and quantity for a quote and lead time. Confirm any destination-specific import requirements with your customs broker separately.
Should I request MSDS before or after placing the order?
Before. Your freight forwarder needs the MSDS to classify the shipment for transport — especially if the material is classified as dangerous goods. Request MSDS during supplier qualification, not when the shipment is already at the port.
